- Home Modifications: what has worked for you to make your home safer and more functional?
- Hobbies, pastimes and interests: have you had to stop some of these activities due to your vision? Have you found other things to enjoy instead? How do you spend your spare time?
- Eyesight: What do you see? Can you describe your field of vision? We are all different in this regard, but it would be interesting and helpful to know that others perceive things in the same way that you do.
- Navigating public places – If you still go into stores, theaters and restaurants, what is challenging? What could they do better to help the visually impaired? Think of shopping, banking, movies, dining out. Do you bring anything with you to help you see when you leave your home?
- Socialization – Do you have a strategy for staying connected with family and friends? St John’s campus activities? Do you keep your vision loss to yourself? Are you comfortable asking for help?
- Understanding and managing feelings – do you have any strategies for coping with anger or sadness due to your vision loss?
- Support networks – do you have any information to share regarding advocacy groups, national support organizations, or educational resources you have found helpful?
- Awareness and advocacy – discuss the importance of advocating for people with vision loss. Can you think of public places you go that would benefit by some improvements to help those with low vision. (I’ll start off by making a list of the things Wegmans can do for us.)
